Coaching
|
The following are the MANDATORY MINIMUM requirements defined by the Football Association of Wales Trust for all coaches acting in a supervisory capacity. Newport District Junior Youth League police these qualifications and will take disciplinary action ie fines/suspensions if any coaches are found to be operating without these qualifications:
CRIMINAL RECORDS BUREAU CHECK
Application forms are available from the CJYFC Child Welfare Officer. Any costs will be covered by CJYFC or Newport District League ie no cost to coaches. A CRB number is issued after all checks are successfully completed.
FAWT FOOTBALL LEADERS AWARD
This is a 2 day non-examinable course usually held on consecutive Sundays. The Leaders Award must be retaken EVERY 3 YEARS (unless a higher coaching award was passed in that period in which case the higher award would need to be retaken every 3 years). Newport District League mandate that EVERY person acting in a coaching capacity for EVERY match and training session must hold a current FAWT Leaders Award (or higher award) and completed CRB check.
FAWT FIRST AID FOR FOOTBALL AWARENESS
This is a 3 hour non-examinable course usually held midweek. The First Aid Award must be retaken EVERY 3 YEARS. Newport District league mandate that a person (not necessarily the coach) with a current First Aid award must attend every training session and match. A First Aid kit must be taken to EVERY match and training session.
NOTES:
1. On completion of all of the above, Newport District League will issue a Coaching ‘licence' card to the Coach which must be taken to EVERY match and training session.
2. Access to FAWT Courses: These are sometimes run in Newport in Groups organised by CJYFC or Newport District League. Alternatively, Coaches can book directly with FAWT on any Leaders/First Aid course in any area eg Torfaen, Cardiff etc). CJYFC refunds all course fees for Leaders and First Aid courses to the coach on successful completion of the course. See the FAWT website at HYPERLINK " http://www.fawtrust.org.uk/ "www.fawtrust.org.uk for course availability.
3. CJYFC will normally fund, wholly or in part, other FAWT courses that CJYFC coaches wish to undertake. The Coach must submit a request to the CJYFC Committee who will decide funding on a case by case basis eg availability of Club funds.
