Rogerstone Tournament Yet Again Rogerstone rangers surpassed themselves with an excellent tournament only recommendation for next year that they turn the temperature down a few degrees. Caerleon wasn't going to let the sun spoil what was to be a great day out for the kids with the coaches turning up prepared armed to the teeth with sun tan lotion, drinks and of course the trusty gazebo. (Next time don't forget the instructions or click here .This has the potential to run on for years.) With Harry Gardiner having his last run out for Caerleon he was awarded the captains armband for the day giving performance after performance justifying the coaches decision. Caerleon entered into the spirit of the day well giving some determined performances even though not training since the end of the season. All the boys took terns playing in different positions giving them a chance to express themselves in areas of the field they don't always venture into with the coaches looking on in amusement at 11 would be Ronaldinho's strutting their stuff in the middle of the park. At the end of the day the boys left holding their heads and medals high after some gritty performance against some quality opposition, Well done all.

CORRIES TOURNAMENT Under 10's Gladiators & Celts (with Adam Eastman & Will Kenney from the Centurions) took part in the Newport Corinthians Annual Tournament on Sunday 14th May. A good day was had by all & thankfully even the weather favoured us! All of the players put so much effort into their games & played really well. The 2 teams played 5 games each and due to their efforts and teamwork, neither team lost a game. Well done lads! The tournament was well organised & all players received a trophy for their participation in the event. Thanks must go to the Corries for organising such a large & enjoyable event for both children & their families. A huge thanks must also go to the teams' coaches - Nigel Sanders & Gwyn Taylor of the Gladiators, Simon Fisher & Kevin Jones of the Celts aswell as Jason Pugh & Phil Kenney of the Centurions, for the time, efforts, endless patience & inspiration they give to our children all through the year. Thanks also to Tyler Morgan who played for the Celts and played out of his goal keeper position for the Centurions to actively attack the goals at the other end instead of defending his own! |
